FAQs

Equipment

  • All players at all levels will need a glove.

  • Bats must be stamped USA (USSSA bats are not allowed.)

  • Batting Helmets (for Minors, they must have a cage on their helmets)

  • Plastic molded spikes (metal not allowed)

  • T-ball and Coach Pitch players may share bats and helmets with teammates. These are limited, though, so if feasible players are welcome (and encouraged) to bring their own. Spikes are not required for t-ball, but they can be helpful to young players.

Residency/Gender

There is no residency requirement to play for GBA. You may live outside of Greenfield and still play for GBA as long as you are a committed player. Boys and girls are welcome to sign up at any level.

Service Duty

All players' families will be responsible for a service/fundraising duty, including working two shifts at the Pop Stand (per player). The Pop Stand is the major fundraiser for GBA and essential to our non-profit's ability to function. When registering, if you would like to opt out of working shifts, you will need to pay a $50 fee for EACH player you are registering. During the spring season planning in March, it was decided that shifts for this year would be assigned, with families able to trade spots. Failure to show up for an assigned spot will result in a $30 fee. Families also may be asked to participate in additional fundraiser and volunteer shifts for special events, as needed.

Commitment

At every level, beginning at t-ball, GBA expects players and families to be committed to attending practices and games, and putting forth their best effort. This is essential to ensure all our players have a positive experience while learning the game.

Season Dates

In general, T-ball through Little League seasons run April through June. Weather and make-up games will dictate season length. Pony, Colt, and Super Colt leagues run through the CitiSports schedule and generally run May through July.

Schedules

Coaches will communicate individual team game and practice schedules once they are set. Game schedules will also be posted online. Schedules vary based on age group, but generally expect at least 1 to 2 practices and 1 to 2 games a week.

Team Formation

At the April 4, 2024 Board meeting, it was approved that policies and procedures for all team formation processes would be finalized and communicated publicly by June 15, 2024. Please contact your league VP if you have questions in the meantime.

Fields

GBA utilizes several neighborhood fields for games and practices, with the major location of Hammer Field for T-ball through Little League and Magee Field for Pony through Colt. Coaches will communicate to families the practice schedule and location of games.

Coaching

If you are interested in coaching or volunteering in more dedicated ways, please note that when registering. All coaches and volunteers working directly with children MUST file the required clearances with the GBA Board for our records.

Included in Registration

All players registered for the spring 2024 season will receive:

  • Hat and Uniform Shirt

  • Trophy or medal either at the conclusion of the season or on Trophy Day

  • Opportunities to participate with GBA in various events including All-Star Day, the Holiday Parade, and more.

  • Communication from GBA leaders on other developmental opportunities and community activities.
